NICOLE WG Site Characterisation & Monitoring |

|
The NICOLE community in the past has shown a significant interest in Site Characterisation and Monitoring technologies as demonstrated by the successful workshops in Pisa (2002) and Carcassonne (2006). Identification, faster implementation and acceptance of innovative technologies suited for industrially contaminated land within the framework of a risk-based approach is a challenge that can benefit fromtargeted
knowledge exchange.
A working group has been set up to establish a forum to identify and share know-how and bring forward the state of practice by joint demonstration actions.
The Working Group is led by Service Provider members (chair Derk van Ree, GeoDelft and co-chair Laurent Bakker TAUW). Meetings are held in conjunction with NICOLE network meetings when possible.

Objectives and working group activities
|
-
Identify the key issues for NICOLE-stakeholders in implementation, verification and acceptance of innovative site characterisation and monitoring technologies
- Establishing a forum/source of practical know-how
on available innovative site characterisation technologies. The knowledge exchange
should result in faster introduction and acceptance of innovative technologies for
industrially contaminated land. It will also aid harmonisation of procedures and
reporting relevant to end-users on identical techniques applied/sold by different
vendors (e.g. MIP-probing)
